The EU AI Act is already in force. Find out your risk tier.
What does your AI system do?
HIGH RISK
Your AI system likely falls under Annex III of the EU AI Act.
What this means: Full compliance required before deploying in the EU. Risk management, bias audits, technical documentation, human oversight, and EU database registration.
Deadline: August 2, 2026 (or December 2027 if the Digital Omnibus delay passes). Either way, compliance work takes months.
Penalty for non-compliance: Up to 35,000,000 EUR or 7% of global turnover, whichever is higher.
What this means: Your AI system doesn't trigger mandatory compliance obligations. Voluntary codes of conduct are encouraged.
However: If your system evolves (new features, new data types, new use cases), your classification could change. Internal tools that start making decisions about people can shift to high-risk.
Recommended: Turn on audit logging anyway. It's free and gives you a documented compliance trail.
